1001 Lugares - Lyon

As I told you in this post, I've been spending a week in Taizé, and for one day that week I was able to visit Lyon. I'll tell you the most important points of this beautiful city.
Lyon is one of the largest cities of French and it is also the most charming.
This city is divided by the River Rhone into two zones, one side of the river is modern and the other is very old. The oldest part is called "Vieux Lyon" and is great for walking, because it has many narrow streets full of cafes, restaurants, galleries, shops and small churches. I was amazed by the beauty of these streets and, as I was lucky, it was a sunny day, so I could made a lot of walks.

The first stopping point was the "Teatres Romains de Fourviere" which is a set of ruins of what was a Roman amphitheater in the fourth century BC. It is a space where we could be in contact with the past of that place and imagine the shows that have happened there. Despite the more than 2000 years that have passed the theater is very well maintained and it's a place that you can not miss.
Next I visited the "Notre Dame de Fourviere" that sits on top of a hill. Europe is full of beautiful churches, but this one is simply spectacular. It's all colorful and full of wonderful stained glass. Additionally still has a chapel in the basement that can not be missed.
But this is just inside the Basilica on the outside has a beautiful view over the city that is breathtaking.

But we can not forget that Lyon is the birthplace of cinema so I had to visit the Institute Lumiere. This is a museum honoring the inventors of the cinematographer and fathers of cinema - Auguste and Louis Lumière.
Located where was the home of the Lumière family, it offers an aesthetic and historic journey to the beginning of cinema.
It has a huge collection of cameras, from the most ancient to modern.
At night the city is lovely, is fully lit, something that only it is perceived when going there.

Do not miss visiting this city when you guys are France.
